Adoption program from Guatemala

Word Links has recently established its international adoption program from Guatemala.

The children from Guatemala are mostly of Latin American descent. They typically have medium skin and dark hair. Most of the children come from unwed mothers under extremely poor economic conditions and are living in either foster care or orphanages. The children live in foster homes and are in good health.

We’re With You Every Step of the Way

While in Guatemala you will be assisted by our professional associates, who will guide you through the adoption process from start to finish, helping to ensure that your experience in Guatemala proceeds as smoothly as possible. After you return home from Guatemala with your child, you can take advantage of World Links’ post adoption counseling, mentoring and social networks services. Our numerous events and get-togethers with other adoptive families provide continued support to families after the international adoption process is successfully completed.

Who Can Adopt?

  • Both married couples and singles can adopt.
  • Prior divorce or other children at home are acceptable.
  • There is no upper age limit for prospective parents.

Children Availability

  • The children are as young as newborn to 2 years old at time of referral.
  • Toddlers, older children, and sibling groups are also available.

Adoption process

After you submit an application, World Links will promptly begin the international adoption process. You will be assigned a consultant to help you gather the documents needed for your Guatemalan adoption dossier.Waiting time for referral of a child, after dossier and CIS pre-approval is complete, varies usually between 6 to 9 months, but can be longer for infant girls. After a child is referred, photos and brief medical information are provided. Processing time for adoption in Guatemala, from acceptance of referral until travel or escorting, takes an average of 9 to 12 months. Each case is individual and times can vary.

Your referral contains a profile of a waiting child best matching the description of the child you would like to adopt. It includes the name of the prospective child, along with a picture, video and relevant medical and social information. If you choose to accept the referral and continue to the next step, World Links will schedule your trip and assist with all travel arrangements.

In order to complete an adoption, one parent may travel to Guatemala or an escort service may be arranged for a child. Travel to Guatemala lasts 3 days.

Healthy newborn boys and girls are waiting to be matched with their family.
